What are the advantages of hiring a professional photographer?

A professional photographer is experienced in capturing beautiful images despite the often stressful conditions that a wedding can present. They are proficient at organising group shots, creative when looking for good locations in bad weather conditions and technically experienced to take the very best images they can on your day. They are also aware of all the little details the bride and groom may want recorded. The equipment they use is specifically designed to capture perfect images in low light conditions, for example in ceremonies when flash is often prohibited. In addition a professional photographer will carry a full set of back up equipment in case of any problems on the day. Weddings often take years to plan and cost thousands of pounds. After the event the only thing which remains are your images, so it is worth making sure they are the best they can be.

Who will be our photographer?

We currently have 4 photographers at CIA Photography and as stated below, we encourage you to meet with your photographer to discuss your day. Having 4 photographers also means that in the rare event of illness or injury, we have a professional and reliable photographer to step in.

Can we meet you before the wedding to discuss our requirements?

I believe it is highly beneficial, where possible, for clients to meet with your photographer to discuss your day and ensure you are happy. However, if a meeting proves logistically impossible we can still discuss all your queries or concerns over the phone in detail and I can provide you with examples of my work to ensure that you are choosing the right photographer for you. The meeting is free of charge and does not commit you to anything.

Why are your prices so reasonable?

I believe in offering the best quality at a fair price, working from home means lower overheads than photographers who have high street premises. As I specialise in weddings which are all on location I don’t need a studio and so can keep my prices very competitive without sacrificing quality or service.

What photographic equipment do you use and do you carry backups?

We use professional Fuji digital cameras and Sigma lenses. In addition, we always carry backup cameras, lenses and flash!

How many shots can we choose from and are the high resolution files available?

There is no limit to the number of images I will shoot on the day. You can expect to receive 200-500 photographs depending on the length of coverage. High resolution images of all the photographs are included in all packages supplied at approx 5MB.

Do I have copyright of the high resolution files?

The copyright always remains with the photographer but personal usage rights are granted so you can make your own prints, thank you cards and even albums if desired.

We do not allow commercial use or the passing of images to other suppliers for promotion of their work unless our prior consent is given.

Where are my photographic images stored?

We take great care of client files and go to the expense of backing them up on multiple drives, to protect against hardware failure. All Weddings are stored for 5 years however we suggest you make copies of you images as soon as possible and store your original CD-Rom some where safe.

Are wedding albums included?

Albums are included in some wedding packages. We use Graphistudio, as they are the best available. The albums are available in a range of covers and colours, including Acrylic, Metal and Silk. Furthermore each album is bespoke designed just for you. For Traditional albums and Unique packages we use British sourced suppliers who have years of experience and quality assurance.

How long should I set aside for my wedding pictures?

I always recommend a minimum of two hours (excluding transportation time) for your main family and bridal shots. This will be discussed in detail at your initial meeting.

Can you help with planning my wedding?

With hundreds of weddings under our belt, we can offer advice when asked, and can help you visualize how your day will be. We understand that every wedding is unique so therefore we never force any ideas onto a couple, rather provide an eager ear to listen and understand.

We recommend our sister site to help you find venues and other wedding suppliers - Your Wedding at Loch Lomond

Do you take any formal or group photographs?

Absolutely. I will offer my advice on the number or feasibility of the shots you want, based on timings of the day but otherwise your wedding album will be filled with the type of shots you want. We always provide a traditional service with a mixture of reportage and artistic shots added to the mix.

How do you deal with low light and bad weather conditions?

A good photographer should be able to capture your pictures in all conditions. I have the professional photographic equipment required to deal with low light conditions and will research your venue thoroughly. Where possible I will visit the venue in advance to ensure there are locations we can use for the group photos, couple shots and bridal portraits in the event of bad weather.

What if I don’t like having my photo taken?

Don’t worry, many people feel the same way including me! We will discuss all your concerns before the day to take into account any worries you may have. Certain styles of photography are less intrusive then others and there are many ways to make you feel more comfortable and still get the shots you want from the day.

Do you offer black and white wedding photographs?

Black and white images can be striking and a proportion of your photos may be delivered this way. There is no extra cost for B&W photography. Your master disk will have every image in colour, almost all printing outlets lets you print a colour master image in black or white.

Do you offer online galleries to view our wedding pictures?

No, not as standard. This is due to releasing the master images to you and letting you copy that disk as many times to distribute to your family. If however you require this service we can offer it for a basic charge of £70.

How long does it take until I can see my photographs?

All images have high quality post-processing done to them and the full set will be sent to you within two weeks after the date of your wedding. Wedding albums vary but are typically a four week turnaround.

Do you have insurance?

We have public liability and professional indemity insurance

Are you a member of any photography associations?

We are members of the BIPP, the SWPP and the Guild of Photographers

Great! I want to book. How do I do that?

Very easily. Firstly contact us through Email or telephone and let us know your date. If your date is available we always recommend a one to one meeting to discuss your requirements, and to view our work. If you like what you see and hear then all we need is a completed booking form, signed copy of the terms and conditions along with your deposit.

How can I pay for my wedding photographs?

We offer a range of methods to pay. Payments by cash, cheque and all major credit / debit cards are accepted. Paypal is also accepted. We can arrange installments for those wish to manage their finances.

If we have not answered your question please feel free to Email Colin at CIA Photography or phone the office on 01389 605173.
